01 / PLAN YOUR HUNT
Utah DWR uses Fishlake/Thousand Lakes for units 25 A and B in its elk management plan. It is separate from Boulder and Panguitch Lake. Fishlake/Thousand Lakes belongs to the broader Greater Plateau Elk Complex, but that shared management approach does not combine the hunting units into one permit area.

DWR describes elk moving among the Greater Plateau’s management areas seasonally, while hunts remain managed at the individual unit level. Keep an offline copy, and resolve any uncertainty about where your permit is valid with DWR before hunting.
03 / PLAN YOUR HUNT
An elk inquiry should include your weapon, legal dates, permit type and available field days. Ask how those details affect time spent glassing, walking and traveling between locations. Share your comfort on uneven ground and whether anyone in the party needs a slower pace. The goal is a daily plan your party can follow, with practical clothing, footwear and communication arrangements.

Ask Black Timber to identify the meeting location before reserving lodging. Confirm whether a quoted package includes lodging, meals, in-field transportation and retrieval, and distinguish field days from arrival and departure days. Discuss a backup approach if a road or access route becomes unsuitable. Land ownership and access must be checked independently of the hunt boundary; the unit name alone does not grant access to private property.
